Ella Raine’s Bad Report Card

  “Ella Raine! Come in here right now!” Daddy yelled from the living room. Ella had literally just walked in the door, still in her school uniform. She peeked her head into the living room a moment later, scared of the tone of her voice. “Yes, Daddy?” she asked meekly.  “In here. Now.” Ella stepped in towards him, keeping her eyes on the floor. Once she stood before him, Daddy held up a letter half propped out of a ripped up envelope. “What the hell is this? You’re failing 2 courses this semester?!” Ella’s downward eyes went wide. Shit. She didn’t realize that letter was coming home so soon; she thought she could’ve grabbed it and disposed of it before Daddy found it in the mail.  “Look at me,” Daddy instructed. Late Night Lesson from Mom

  Christina parked her car and nervously looked at the clock. It read  1:31AM , which meant it was 2 and 1/2 hours past curfew. She was filled with both the fear of missing curfew and the annoyance that she had one; after all, she was 22, and none of her other friends had curfews.  Christina got out of the car and took a look at her house, seeing all the lights were out. She felt a big sense of relief that this meant everyone was asleep and she’d get away with it. After closing the car door as quietly as she could to avoid making any noise, she carefully made her way to the front door, sliding her key in slowly and opening it slow to avoid any creaking.
